Considering the sheer volume of album releases that flooded our eardrums back in 2024, it was looking unlikely that 2025 would be very saturated with project releases. However, we have been blessed by a series of artists gifting us with their new songs. Huge names like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, Tate McRae, Sam Fender and more have delivered this year. To keep the momentum going, I have (with great struggle) picked just five albums that I am looking forward to hearing.

GIVĒON – BELOVED

July 11

This Friday 11th July promises GIVĒON’s return with his latest album ‘BELOVED’. This new album will be his fourth in his career, over three years since his last album ‘Give or Take’ was released. I have been a fan of this artist for such a long time, as I think the tone of his voice is so unique and irreplaceable. He has an undeniable ability to deliver heartwarming and heart wrenching songs by pairing beautiful string and piano accompaniments with such smooth, rich and thoughtful vocals. The 30-year-old singer has released two singles–’RATHER BE’ and ‘TWENTIES’–prior to the full album, and I was so impressed at how he is capable at bringing forth new sounds but retaining that element of nostalgia and introspection that motivates his storytelling. I am very much looking forward to this new project.

Ty Dolla $ign – TYCOON

July 18

Just a week later, on 18th July, Ty Dolla $ign brings us ‘TYCOON’, his tenth studio album (excluding his deluxe releases). I am anticipating this album more with skepticism than pure elated excitement. I think Ty Dolla $ign is very talented, and definitely bridged the gap between R&B and rap with his ability to flip between rapping and rhythmic singing. His songs stand out often melodically rather than in regards to their substance. I am curious for this album’s sound as I have only really been a fan of the rapper’s collaborative music, which I believe is where he shines. He had a keen ear for providing just what a song might need. My favourite album of his was aptly titled ‘Featuring Ty Dolla $ign’. I just hope he is able to deliver the same effect on his new album as he has done previously in tandem with other artists, notably Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi and Anderson .Paak.

Reneé Rapp  – BITE ME

August 1

Reneé Rapp is an incredibly gifted vocalist and actress, and she is poised to gift us once more with her second album ‘BITE ME’ on August 1. The 25-year-old showed off her pop side in her debut album ‘Snow Angel’, and it sounds from her promotional singles for this album–‘Leave Me Alone’ and ‘Mad’–that the artist may be venturing into a more grungy rock side. Fans of the celebrity will align this perfectly with her personality, as she is a take-no-prisoners, uncensorable and unapologetic individual which is so refreshing to see in music. I am excited to see where this will take her, as she steps into this fearless persona, but hope she continues to give us such astonishing vocals that we were delighted with in her first album. I am still holding out for an R&B side to come out, as her voice perfectly suits it, but we will have to wait and see!

Sabrina Carpenter – Man’s Best Friend

August 29

Sabrina Carpenter is one of the world’s biggest popstars at the moment, and I can see why. The 25-year-old singer and actress does not seem to take a day off. After releasing her sixth, GRAMMY-award winning album ‘Short ‘n’ Sweet’ last August, she has been just about everywhere, whilst performing on her own arena tour. This has not stopped her, however, from announcing her seventh album ‘Man’s Best Friend’ for the end of August. I am curious to gauge the sound of this album, as its predecessor was so undeniably pop in its element. Unfortunately, her first single for this project ‘Manchild’ did not draw me in completely, as I go through phases with country music, and this time it was a miss. I just hope her introspective side delivers on his album, as her lyricism is unmatched, and was beautifully scripted in ‘emails i can’t send’, may personal favourite of all of her albums.

JADE – THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!

September 12

As an ex-Little Mix member, Jade Thirlwall has definitely proven herself as a solo artist. She recently won the BRIT for Pop Act, and has dominated UK charts with her single drops, notably the chaotically beautiful ‘Angel Of My Dreams’. I am excited to see and hear what the entirety of her debut album will sound like, given the breadth she has given us with the whopping six singles already dropped. That is nearly half of the album, but my anticipating has not wavered, given just how different each song sounds. From 70s disco to EDM to classic pop, I hope we get to add some more to the list. I personally am hoping to hear some rock-inspired sounds from her, to really catapult us to the other end of the spectrum and further prove her versatility as an artist.

There are so many other artists who are dropping new music over the next few months, like Ed Sheeran, Joy Crookes and The Jonas Brothers. It is comforting to know we are not lost without anything new to digest this summer. Hopefully they will not disappoint!
